We’re thrilled to have been invited to be a charity partner with the 4 Paws Marathon team. This awesome event is the brainchild of Dr John Molloy who wants to encourage us humans look after our health through exercise with our dogs - to the benefit of both!
Held in the beautiful Bottle Lake Forest and utilising the wonderful nearby Christchurch beaches, the 4 Paws Marathon will take place on Sunday 1st October 2023
The team at 4 Paws Marathon have given 5 excellent reasons why you should sign up:
1. It's our 5th anniversary year and that's something worth celebrating! We've got some beaut 5th anniversary medals lined up for you. Everyone (with a dog) who enters during this early bird period (1 April - 30 June) will also go into the draw to win a personalised picture of their dog on the back of one of our distance category medals. These are super cool and a great way to immortalize your best friend.
2. We've got our full team of sponsors on board again this year so you won't miss out on all the things you love! Beefed up goody bags, doggy ice creams, dog finisher's medals, and our 'couples massage' for you and your best friend.
3. Our entry prices haven't gone up this year. We want to keep this event as affordable as possible to help get you to the start line!
4. We're partnering with some awesome charities this year so please support them! LandSAR Search Dogs (LandSAR dogs assist with search and rescue missions in NZ), Assistance Dog NZ (training dogs to assist New Zealanders living with a disability), and Healthy Pets NZ (a charity that supports research into improved health and welfare for Kiwi pets).
5. Your dog is loyal and so are we. This year we're starting our Loyalty Program. Enter our event 5 times and you'll get your 6th year entry free on us. Enter 10 times and you'll get your 11th year entry free and so forth. We love people who keep coming back and supporting our event!
We'll have our usual 2.4km (Rascal’s Run), 5km, 10km, 16km, 21.1km, and 42.2km options to choose from but this year we'll also have a new 32.2km (mini marathon) distance. For those curious about life after a half marathon and keen to have a taster of a full marathon, then this is the perfect course for you! All the beauty and remoteness of the full marathon course with a bit less suffering.
