Findings published in German Shorthair Pointer dyskinesia study

Results of a Healthy Pets funded study on Episodic involuntary movements in a litter of German Shorthair Pointer puppies were published in the March 2025 issue of Companion Quarterly, the newsletter of the Companion Animal Veterinarians Branch of New Zealand Veterinary Association. While a specific causative mutation was not found, this study provided an opportunity to review the distinction between seizures and other involuntary movement disorders from a clinical perspective and improve understanding of how and why these episodes may occur.
